Crofter and TV personality, Sweeny, sets out on his first adventure to the US where he finds out the truth behind the Western movies that he has always loved. Discovering that some of the largest and most successful ranches in US history were owned and run from Scotland, Sweeny follows in the footsteps of Gaels who transformed America’s Wild West. He saddles up with real life cowboys at the Matador Ranch, once run by Ross-shire Gael and successful cattle baron Murdo MacKenzie. Sweeny catches up with Mackenzie’s family in Trinidad, Colorado. He swaps stories with a longhorn breeder, experiences a real Texan rodeo, and meets members of the Oglala Lakota Nation who share the detrimental impact that that cattle industry has had on their people.
