Maggie, Kirsteen, Heather and Trudy have signed up for a summer of bayonet fighting, automatic weapons, night manoeuvres, chemical warfare, high explosives and a fierce fitness regime.
They've volunteered for the Territorial Army's Summer Challenge - an action-packed training scheme that can take civilians to the same level of fitness and training as Regular Army soldiers. It takes seven gruelling weeks.
It qualifies TA soldiers to be mobilised for specialised training - training that could have them fighting in Afghanistan within weeks. Our 'Army Girls' think they're tough enough.
But are they?
