Shooting Franz Ferdinand

With a million-selling album, critical plaudits and ecstatic fans, Franz Ferdinand  are the undisputed Scottish success story of 2004. Artworks Scotland follows them from their old Glasgow haunts to triumph at the Mercury music awards and on to New York, where they continue their quest to break America. With exclusive backstage and performance footage as well as interviews with the band and those close to them, we reveal what made them the new kings of pop.

Members of the band show us around the venues where they used to rehearse and perform in the early days, such as the abandoned jail in the east end of Glasgow where they composed much of their first album, and Stereo, a local venue in which they filmed their first video.

We follow the boys backstage at their Mercury Prize victory, and on to a triumphant arrival in New York - the last night of their American  tour. The programme culminates with their Glasgow homecoming, where they play to a joyous and proud crowd at the Barrowland.
